it's been a while since i have done an interview, and i thought i would share my most recent one.
hope you enjoy this little peek into my mind. thank you to lillian from the rustyhead!
The Rustyhead: How are you? Tell us a little about yourself.
Caylee: My name is Caylee, from the blog ifyouseekstyle.com. I'm 26 years old and live in Chicago, Illinois.
TRH: What made you start your blog?
C: I stumbled upon my first fashion blog in 2008 and it was a godsend. Someone like me, living in rural Indiana at the time with a huge interest in fashion but no one to really relate to, could finally connect with others, express and create. I also love the Internet, which made it a win-win. I posted outfit pictures on MySpace and Chictopia for a while and the response was so amazing, I finally just started a blog. It's four years old now!
TRH: How would you describe your style?
C: An Isabel Marant and Madewell love child.
TRH: What are some must haves or most worn items in your closet?
C: High rise jeans, ankle boots, button down shirts, oversized blazers, and vintage belts and bags.
TRH: Favourite spring/summer trends for 2013?
C: I want a pair overalls or a pinafore, but I already look ten years younger than I really am and this will just emphasize that. Dilemmas....
TRH: Favourite places to shop in your city?
C: Thrift stores!
TRH: What can we find in your bag on a daily basis?
C: My wallet, Ray-ban sunglasses, iPhone, Burt Bees lip balm, and orange tic tacs.
TRH: What are some items on your wishlist right now?
C: Can someone just take me on a Topshop shopping spree? Thanks.
TRH: Where do you get your inspiration?
C: The internet of course; street style being número uno. But since I feel I have really come into my own, just clothes in general inspire me. If I see a perfect blouse on a rack, I'm already thinking of a million ways and a million places I'm going to wear it. It's about a lifestyle for me, not fashion or following trends.
TRH: What do you like the most about blogging?
C: The friendships I have created. You know someone based a mutual interest in each other's blog and you talk via the Internet, but then you meet, and a legitimate bond forms. It's the coolest thing ever to say some of the girls I have met through blogging are now friends for life.
TRH: Do you have any tips for new bloggers/anyone who wants to start a blog?
C: Inspire and motivate yourself, which in turn will inspire and motivate others. I don't really look to see what others are doing. I only see what I'm doing, where I'm going. People want to see something real - do what you love, never stop trying, and let that authenticity shine through in your photos and in your style.
