as soon as i laid eyes on this postcard-perfect view, i declared that it was like 'being nowhere in the middle of somewhere'. and i kind of wanted to stay there, forever. major props to a beanie that keeps me warm as hell and is just cool enough to not cross into christmas elf/toddler territory. the color is perfect, especially when paired when my neutral staples.

a musical companion that, along with these pictures, will make it really feel like you're in a winter wonderland.
p.s. so much love for all of you guys who keep reading, keep coming back.
i'm still taking questions for my "ask me anything" post. go here or here!
many many moons ago (ok, three years ago...), i did the style blogger staple question-and-answer post,
and i think it's about time to do one again. so go ahead,
ask me anything!
leave your questions here in the comments, or on my formspring! they can be anonymous and can be about fashion, music, careers, advice, life in general, anything you please. as always, any question is accepted and i will never be offended but nothing too personal. also, if i receive enough, i might try my hand at a video blog and reply in that format! can't wait to hear from and interact with all of you - that's my favorite part of this whole journey :)
i thought it'd be fun to post an outtake from yesterday's post. "alright, shoot from here to here." - a typical blogger-to-photographer explanation, captured a moment too soon. i couldn't stop laughing when i saw this on my camera's screen.
& today's tunes, by blackbird blackbird. run, don't walk, and check out the rest of their work. the song "pure" is particularly beautiful. they make me want to ditch my winter blues and road trip across the US in an old convertible. enjoy!
topshop coat (old, similar here); urban outfitters dress (similar here); zara bag and belt; h&m beanie (similar here); target tights (similar here); aldoboots.
dancing around the glass (literally) in a concrete park, and breaking up the monotony of my usual but beloved androgynous outfits
with a pretty little dress. it's so much fun being a girl. but in a giant coat ;)
"i've got a million things that i need to do, but they're all secondary."
with that undeniably french aura of cool, casual effortlessness, caroline de maigret is the ultimate muse. her answer to who's closet she would love to trade with: "my man's". my kinda babe. follow her tumblr/instagram for an endless stream of inspiration, follow her life as a model and music producer for an endless stream of envy.
accompanying music: the appropriately titled 'paris' and one of my most played songs. ever.
excuse me while i interrupt all of the fashion-y posts, but my guys brandon and alex over at flowerhouse podcast have asked me to contribute to their best of 2012 podcast, and the results are in! i must say, this is a huge honor. the hardest part was narrowing it down - i feel like i've snubbed so many - but i just went with exactly what i have listened to the most.
to hear my five favorite songs of 2012, check out the podcast here.
i'm featured around the 24 minute mark!
everything has a story behind it. whether it's because of a relatable lyric or long-time love affair, a song resonates with you, and sticks, for a reason. i obsessed over and finally shazam-ed the band here we go magic at work a couple of years ago, and my most amazing friend reintroduced me to them. 'how do i know' off their latest album is so damn catchy - it's the ultimate mood lifter, with a beat you can't help but bob your head to it, and i love to sing it at the top of my lungs. i'm a long time matthew dear fan, and his concert last month was one of the best shows i've attended. i don't think i have ever danced as much as i did on that night, especially when he played 'her fantasy'. and, in the name music snobbery (and good fun), brandon and alex called me out for not doing my homework, aka my addition of tennis' song 'origins' to my top five. the single was actually released last year, but hey, their album came out in february and IS my favorite song of the bunch. i also completely agree with and love you guys forever for the addition of tame impala and princeton in your best of 2012 list. so, can we call a truce? :)
music is everywhere. is everything.
thank you flowerhouse for this opportunity!
here's to our top five songs every year from here on out.
i told you guys i'd recreate the outfit collage i did last week, and well, here it is in all it's glory! not exactly the same (a slight change in the glasses and the coat, plus the addition of my ever-present beanie), but still perfect in my sunshine filled eyes.
imagine living a whole day with this as your background music. in love with every second that passes and needing nothing but exactly what you're given at the moment. careless, blissful, and floating free.
a combination that i can't stop wearing: a slouchy sweater paired with a mini skirt. top it off with a blazer coat, tights, ankle boots, and as many cold weather accessories as your heart desires (angora beanies and giant knit scarves, please) - couldn't be more ideal. all of the options you see above are for sale in my online store - shop HERE!
all i want for christmas is to get dressed up and go out for a night on the town. i can't get this image out of my mind, as it's exactly what i envision to be the perfect look for said occasion - messy hair, a bold lip, a bit of sparkle, and, most importantly, the sex appeal of a classy, confident woman full of personality and life. what's on your wishlist?
the boots and the bag are black friday purchases by yours truly. i love contrasts, and i needed a purse that would add a touch of luxe to all of my thrift store sweaters - this one does just that. and you know i love gold hardware. my quest to replace all of my black boots with pointy-toed successors continues with the addition of this magical suede pair. i have similar pieces to every other item seen here, and i can't wait to recreate this outfit (and subsequently show all of you, of course!).
h&m's new shoes, accessories and beauty-focused luxury line & other stories is launching in europe this coming spring, and, to hold us over, the beloved brand is teasing us with creative videos and beautiful imagery. anything that feels like that effortless, parisian chic - the juxtaposition of masculine and feminine - mixed with a hint of vintage and romance, is right up my alley.
watch the video below and see more of the inspiration behind their first collection here.
this is not a sponsored post. i am legit excited and inspired by this new venture. i hope you are now too.
