it's actually been getting really cold at night the past few days, and i couldn't be happier to finally break out my sweaters & jackets.

i remember tweeting about being excited to wear this blouse + belt (gotta love stripes and leopard print together), but i forgot to post this pic i took of them, so here you go!

this is what i throw on to just bum around, running errands and such. when i'm at home i'll wear comfier black leggings instead of the shorts.
also, got these boots in chicago (along with an identical black pair). they are just what i've been looking for. so perfect!

here's what i wore to chicago last saturday, where i went as part of my birthday present =)
my boyfriend and i spent eight hours round trip on the road, and around eight hours shopping, so it was definitely a whirlwind trip! i didn't take but maybe ten pictures because it has just rained before we arrived and the weather was still crappy. we hit up my favorite high street shops, a pizza joint, and a few other places downtown before driving a little further north west for my first visit to an IKEA(!). i know it's not the highest quality furniture, but it sure is simple, inexpensive, and swedish, three things i adore :)

i cannot take full credit for this outfit, as it was inspired by the lovely katherine power from whowhatwear.com. she twitpic-ed this photo about two months ago, and i instantly fell in love with her perfect look. i think i have said this many times before, but it's so cool when you see an amazing outfit, and you realize that you have everything in your closet needed to recreate it. i knew i'd wear it once i finally got a shearling jacket, and my trip to chicago seemed like the perfect opportunity!

my favorite skyscraper in chicago. i think it's both commercial and residential units...how freaking amazing would it be to live at the top of this thing?! also demonstrated in this photo: new and old architecture, sitting beautifully side by side - another reason why i can't get enough of chicago.

fall's key outerwear.

i wore the leather jacket on a quick trip up to chicago this past saturday, so pics of that outfit will be up tomorrow or wednesday!

on a side note - i don’t buy things because they are trendy (and these two definitely are right now), but i will buy trendy things when they work with me and my tastes, and when they will fit seamlessly within my existing wardrobe. i think this is how you guys can streamline your shopping process too! i can see myself wearing these over and over again with the clothing i already own, and thinking like this before purchasing an item makes updating my closet so much easier, and less expensive too :)

NYFW picks.

i'm not the best at reviewing collections during fashion week(s), and i often get behind on viewing them, but here are my favorites from NYFW.

helmut lang is always ALWAYS one of my favorites, and this year,

they went light + fresh for spring. loves!

cushnie et ochs, a perfect mix of edgy and feminine. they are still sort of under the radar as of now, but if they keep coming out with collections like this (and this), then it won't stay that way for long.

michael kors sent some really great minimal looks down the runway! if these sparkly pants on freja were actually maxi skirt, i'd want to be wearing that entire outfit right now.

hey hey, it's my birthday today!!!

i'm the big 2-4, haha.

an uneventful age, but i have the day off and i'm sure gonna enjoy it.

also....i've had this blouse since may, but haven't worn it since silk is not the best material in hot and sticky weather. it's finally cooling down, so i'm now wearing it once a week (at least, it's that perfect). and these jeans will be permanently on my ass, thanks to their ahhhhmazing wash and fit.
