H&M oversized sweater and circle scarf; american apparel cotton thigh-high socks; forever 21 oval ring and studded watch; charlotte russe chain bracelet; target bracelet; vintage native american cuff; nine west wedges.
been wearing these thick thigh-high socks out to dinner, around the house, to bed...so comfortable and warm. oh, & i had shorts on underneath this sweater =)
the weather here has finally realized that it's fall, so all of my new goodies are getting to come out and play.
loved piling all of my favorite bracelets on one arm, but there's a sad story behind it - 99% of my jewelry is from forever 21, and recently, all of my necklaces have tarnished to the point where i don't even want to wear them (and i usually wear one everyday). what's even worse is that two of them are just a few weeks old. if you look close, you can see that my studded watch is now tarnished on side. =(
tried clear nail polish to prevent it, tried some random boiling water + aluminum foil + baking powder combination to remove the damage, and nothing seems to work. am i just doomed due to the inevitable fact that f21's jewelry is cheap, so it's just gonna happen? if anyone has any tips to help prevent cheap jewelry from tarnishing, or to remove it, PLEASE let me know.
maybe it's time to step it up and splurge on some jewlery that's not so expendable, because without my signature pieces, i feel naked.

aww, that's too bad. :( sorry i can't help, i don't know anything about how to stop/fix tarnishing...

I am in love, this is my favorite look of yours ever!
Love Grace.
There is jewelry cleaner you can get to clean the jewelry, but the jewelry will tarnish again eventually. You look cute though! Sorry about your jewelry.

I used to work at a cheap jewelry store called Diva here in Australia.
Basically water and the natural oils from your skin are going to tarnish your jewelry. Polishing the jewelry with a microfibre polishing cloth will help prevent it from happening. I'm not sure that there is a way to get rid of the tarnishing once it's happened, but polishing your jewelry with the cloth after you've worn it will prevent it from happening.
Hope that helps!
ohh thats really bad.. Hate when that happends! Great look btw, you're right wearing socks like that is really comfy!

love it!!! I got some thigh highs, but now it is too cold where I live to wear them without pants...maybe I'll get lucky with a warmer day ;)
I second that request for any tips on preventing/removing tarnish on "inexpensive" (never say cheap! ;]) jewelry?
Love your socks. Wish I could wear mine out...but i don't want nasty men staring :/
love the thigh high's, they look amazing on you and that jumper is perfect.
and that sucks about the jewellery i hate when that happens :( xx
try looking at thrift stores for jewelry that's a good price but old and decent quality - that's the best way to do it!
wowzers, you look incredibly sexy! The thigh highs look amazing on you.
Love this outfit! Your thigh highs are so cute! They are my fave thing also!

white tea & wild horses - thank you for your advice! where can i find a microfibre polishing cloth? just any drug/superstore, or do i have to go to a specialty store, like a jeweler? or can i just get one off of eBay...haha, that would be great.

Hey! I use toothpaste to shine up my jewelry thats tarnished and it always seems to work for me! I think it's worth a try....just get and old toothbrush and some sort of white toothpaste and brush it all over and rinse it off.....hope that works!
This is my fav look of yours it makes you look sooo tall!

I realized a while ago i needed to stop with the f21 jewelry already too! my strategy for finding quality vintage silver jewelry: look specifically for 1. severely tarnished pieces, 2. a 925 stamp somewhere on the piece, which means its means you have sterling silver. Really cheap thrift stores are the best. i have a growing collection of thrifted mexican/southwestern sterling silver pieces i love & wear constantly.
when you get home, clean them with whitening toothpaste (cheap, simple & doesnt hurt the silver.
Totally agree w/ last comment. In cal, we have access to some nice stuff from Mexico that is real and handmade an can be purchased at flea market and craft sales. Otherwise, I've gotten some GREAT pieces at garage sales and thrift stores in really ritzy neighborhoods where people just want to unload the stuff more than drive a hard bargain. Once I walked away with an Italian leather wallet and a handful of chunky vintage jewelery for $2. All in all, I'd say its worth the little extra investment/hunt to find pieces you love and you'll be able to treasure forever... like good jewelery should be. <3
